Government Of Assam Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery Department Directorate of Information and Public Relations

Public Relations Department, Assam was established in June 1940 at Shillong, the then Capital of the State. Since then this Directorate has been playing a pivotal role in creating mass awareness among the people about the Govt. policies, schemes and development. The department practically works as the bridge between the Govt. and the people.

The department provides ample scope for the candidates having Mass Communication degree with the experience of working in Media houses to start their career in Public Relations sector.

The Department is headed by the Director, under whom there is the Additional Directors,Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Senior Information Officers at the rank of Liaison Officers/District Information and Public Relations Officer and Junior Information Officers at the rank of Sub Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer/Assistant Editor/Publication Assistant etc.

Direct recruitment is held for the post of Director, Information and Public Relations, , Senior Information Officers and Junior Information Officers which is organised by the Assam Public Service Commission from time to time subject to vacancy position.

For applying to the post of:

Director, Information and Public Relations

A candidate for the post must possess:-

• A degree of a recognised University in Arts, Science or Commerce
• Practical experience in Journalism in Publicity or Public Relations work
• Atleast 10 years administrative experience in a responsible position
• Marked literacy ability
• Capacity for directing publicity and propaganda; desirable
• Interest and aptitude in current India and world affairs
• Good command over English Language
• Knowledge of Assamese or Bengali or Hindi or any any other language prevalent in the State etc.

Pay scale as per ROP 2017-

Senior Information Officers

A candidate for the post must possess:-

• A degree of a recognised University in Arts, Science or Commerce
• A degree/Diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication or atleast five years experience in Journalism in a responsible capacity in a Newspaper/News Agency/Public Relations organisation/Govt. Public Relations Department
• Good command over English
• Knowledge of Assamese or Bengali or Hindi or any other language prevalent in the State etc.

Pay scale as ROP 2017-

Junior Information Officers

A candidate for the post must possess:-

• A degree of any recognised University in Arts, Science or Commerce
• A degree/Diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication or at least three years experience in Journalism in a responsible capacity in a Newspaper/News Agency/Public Relations organisation/Govt. Public Relations Department
• Good command over English Language
• Knowledge of Assamese or Bengali or Hindi or any other language prevalent in the State etc.

The Feeder cadre like Journalist, Sub Editor cum Proof Reader and Librarian has the opportunity to get promoted to Junior Information Officer under the existing the Assam Information & Public Relations Service Rules 1986.
